NORD 3.1192 wears the 'Fleche d'Or' signet and stands on 30 May 2019 in the Cité du Train in Mulhouse. The Fleche d'Or/Golden Arrow was a luxury train service offered for the better to do passengers between Paris and London via Calais. Between LOndon and Dover and Calais and Paris the travellers went by train; the Channel was crossed by luxury steam ship.

SNCF test loco 232U-1 stands on 30 May 2019 in the Cité du Train in Mulhouse. THis was a one-off Hudson, because soon after the test were completed succesful, the massive dieselisations and electrifications from the beginning of the 1950s took over quickly and cut short what could have been a majestic steam loco design.

MIDI 4002 stands in the Cité du Train in Mulhouse on 30 May 2019. The CF de MIDI ordered forty locos of this type for passenger services under 1.500 Volt DC catenary. After the nationalisation of the French raiwlays in 1938, spawning the SNCF, these locos became class BB 1500. Untill 1979 all engines remained in service, but four years after that, the last was decommissioned.

Z 24004 stands in the Cité du Train in Mulhouse on 30 May 2019. This fast railcar was designed and build by Bugatti, to whom the SNCF commissioned the request to design a fast and comfortable train to beat off the speedily growing competition by car and bus -and to keep the aeroplane at bay for the better-to-do travellers. This Bugatti was a reasonable succes, but more was needed to up the game for the Franch railways. After the effects of the Second World War on rail travel were overcome, SNCF decided to stuck with more conventional railway technology.
Z 24004 stands in the Cité du Train in Mulhouse on 30 May 2019.  PLM 161 BE-3 stands in the Cité du Train in Mulhouse and was photographed on 30 May 2019. In 1927, the Paris-Lyon-Mediterranée PLM ordered ten double locos with axle formation 1ABBA1 that where equipped with a third rail for electric current collection. After 1938, these engines became SNCF Class 3600 and were decommissioned in 1973. All were scrapped expect 3603, which stands now in the Cité du Train in Mulhouse after being restored into her originsal form.
