Green Cargo Rc 1290 is in fact a class Rc4. In this livery unique as restored to resemblance with the traditional all Rc class look from last millennium, while still performing revenue service.

Nice picture, do you know where these days the ludmilla's still ride? I am going to Altenbeken next week and I am hoping to spot a ludmilla

Markus K. 8.4.2016 21:03
Thank you Martin,
I can not tell you what kind of trains you can spot in Altenbeken. But on the track 855 from Hof via Weiden to Regensburg you will find a lot of Ludmilla and other intresting diesel trains at the moment.
With best regards,

Hello Martin,
thanks for your comment. Your question about the remaining Ludmillas is a very, very tricky one! -1) The best chance for spotting Ludmillas remains East-Germany; at Grosskorbetha (between Halle/Leipzig and Naumburg (Saale) I saw a 241.
-2) Other Ludmillas can be seen near the German-Polish border, where the cooperation between PKP and DBAG -EastWest Railways- use their red/white painted Ludmillas on freights, especially near Cottbus and Görlitz. But since freights from/to Poland are seldom ti9metabled, spotting Ludmillas there can be tricky.
-3) Of course, mane German private operators still use Ludmillas, but here also nothing sure can be said.
-4) Many East German Bws like Weimar, Arnstadt and Nossen, have one or more Ludmillas in their collection. Like the turquoise-green 234 304 at the Bw Arnstadt -but a Museumsbw (as the Germans call it) is of course a different thing compared with spotting an active Ludmilla 'in the wild'.
-5) And -as my picture shows- Oberhausen Osterfeld SÜd might be a spotting site for LUdmillas. But Ludmillas -once flooding East Germany- are nowadays an endangered species and I doubt, if the area of Altenbeken will give you many Ludmillas. But one can always be lucky.
I hope you can spot one or more Ludmillas and I wish you the best of luck at Altenbeken.

DB-design on Dutch trains and Polish trains, for me it's hard to become accustomed to it.

Leon Schrijvers 23.4.2015 18:02
Hello Thomas,
thanx for the comment! This is what happens when DB Schenker tries to occupy the World... I've also seen pictures on the net of UK, former EWS Class 66 -both in Poland and the UK! DB Schenker also has Czech designs, since some of the Polish DBS-locos (S200 and T448p) -used by Polish operators, now part of the DB Empire (and yes, I resist the temptation of speaking of the DB Schenker Reich :)) are of Czech design (T669 Bumble Bee and Class 740/742 'Transistors' respectively).
For Dutch photographers although, red 1600s are a bit of variety in the yellow-and-black 1700s -the now red 1600s used to be yellow to, as can be seen in older pictures.
Greetings from the Netherlands from L.
