The IR CIE diesel railcar 2601 is in Cobh and is waiting for the return journey to Cork / Corcaih. The sea can be seen to some extent on the left of the picture. Today Cobh is a small port town, but is THE port of emigration in Ireland, associated with all the sorrow and song that such a farewell brings with it. Cobh, which used to be called Queenstown, is also known as the last port of embarkation for the Titanic before the journey across the ocean began. An analogue picture from June 2021

The CIE (Iarnród Éireann) diesel locomotive CC 087 with the IC from Dublin to Rosslare has reached Wexfort Station / Stásiún Loch Gorman. I got out quickly and was able to take this picture, which was of course a win given the (at the time) rather thin timetable of only four pairs of trains.

The NIR Class 111 number 8113 at Belfast Central. The locomotives are identical to the CIE IR Class 141. The NIR procured 3 of these 140 km/fast locomotives, actually for construction train traffic, but here the locomotive appears to be waiting for departure with a passenger train.

After its journey, the little steam locomotive Shane gets some care in the depot before the train goes on another journey. While the locomotive driver (not shown in the picture) supplies the locomotive with peat, the shunting worker oils it heavily, but interestingly enough, the locomotive does not receive any water during this short stay here.
